READING P 7-sb 4-4-2 Atlantic 350- 353 These four Atlantics are amongst the most beautiful American steam locomotives. Their clean, racey lines make them look like they are running when they're standing still! They are very close in specifications to the PRR E 6 Atlantics which were developed in the same period. Reading Atlantics were 100 mph plus, machines, they were the basis from which the more powerful G-1, etc. Pacifics were later developed. The P-7s were a great turn around of the unsuccessful C-1 experimental 4-4-4s which were unstable at high speeds. The Reading P7 was first offered as a brass and zinc model by Mantua in the late thirties, at the dawn of American HO. The Eddystone P 7 is a completely modern machine. It uses the Bowser PRR E6 frame, drivers, rods, with the Eddystone AS28 drive. Superstructure is of urethane resin castings, with many add on parts. Soundtraxx, and Digitrax DCC are available options. The Eddystone locomotive has 16 ounces on drivers, and pulls well. It even tracks as real Atlantics did. The level of detailing is far superior to the Mantua model, and the level of realism just isn't available from any other steam builder. As always with Eddystone, the coal tools, a broom, the ICC lanterns are on the tender. The tender is exquisitly modeled, with correct bolt configuration on the frame sides, and correct end beams. It has a scoop, and scoop controls. The locomotive features a new , correct Cole trailer truck,, full ash pan, brakes, and valve gear set up for forward running.. The clean boiler is highly detailed. Graphited smoke box and MV Products lenses are of course standard. Your choice of internal or external check valves. The cab has a matched boards interior, full backhead, detail and crew. The firman has out his lunch box and thermos. The ceiling features electrical conduit, and ICC boiler inspection certificate. Windows are glazed. You can't buy another Reading steamer which is so thoroughly and realsistically modeled. . So, Reading fans, HO steam has made a full, upward spiral, and the Reading P 7 -sb is finally available again after a 50 or so year hiatis. Minimum radius 24" Loco weight 17 oz, tender weight 5 oz. Working knuckle on tender only. Start up around 1/10 amp. Locomotive modeled in its late configuration. I decided to tool the locomotive so that all the other people who want one can also have one or more. Orders started coming in once the project was announced. I'm glad to offer this bon-bon to you.
